There are few things more guilt-inducing than packing for a weekend away while your dog watches from the doorway. They know. You know. We all know what the suitcase means… And suddenly, you’re trying to explain that they wouldn’t even like wine tasting.

Friday: Happy Hour Before Check-In

Your bags can sit in the car. The weekend should begin with a drink, a snack and somewhere your dog can stretch after the drive.

Birdie Yountville, formerly Lakeside Grill at Vintner’s Golf Club, is an easy first stop. The patio overlooks the golf course, the Mayacamas are off in the distance, and dogs are welcome inside the restaurant as well as outside.

Happy hour runs daily from 4 to 6 p.m. Order something cold, get a snack and let everyone settle in.

If Everyone Needs a Walk

Enjoy the Sip Yountville zone, where you can walk your dog with a drink in hand. Buy a drink from a participating business and mention Sip Yountville. They’ll put it in a town-approved to-go cup, and you can take your happy hour for a stroll.

You’ll be sipping something cold. They’ll be doing a detailed sniff-review of every tree along Washington Street. Neither of you needs to rush.

Where To Put The Dog Bed?

Charming Cottage & B&B Atmosphere

Lavender and Maison Fleurie both have that cozy cottage charm. Surrounded by quiet gardens and within walking distance to downtown restaurants and tasting rooms.

They both offer a designated dog-friendly room – just add your pup to the reservation!

Boutique Hotel Style & Atmosphere

If you’re leaning toward a Michelin-rated luxury hotel experience, North Block and Bardessono both welcome dogs and offer pet-friendly room options.

Once you’ve checked in and dealt with the bags, it’s time to find a table.

Where the Dog Gets a Menu

Reserve the patio at Lucy Restaurant & Bar, at Bardessono, and ask for the Barkessono menu. Oh yes. An actual menu, just for dogs.

Depending on the current selections, your pup could be choosing between chicken and rice, beef and carrots, or sausage and eggs. You get to settle in for a proper dinner with a glass of wine, and they get a plate of their own. Finally, ordering “something for everyone” includes the guest under the table.

Of course, having their own dinner doesn’t mean they’ll lose interest in yours. They’ll finish their plate, check on your progress and look mildly offended that you haven’t ordered a second round for them.

French Bistro

Bouchon Bistro, Thomas Keller’s French bistro on Washington Street, makes a lovely first-night stop for classic French food, a glass of wine and a little people-watching.

Dogs are welcome on the patio, so mention your pup when you reserve and settle in together. You can spend some time debating the menu – your dog will already have decided they want whatever you’re having.

Once the food arrives, expect excellent eye contact and a sudden willingness to perform every trick they know. You asked for a sit. They’ve offered a full audition.

Saturday Morning: Coffee, Breakfast & a Proper Walk

Your dog has been awake for an hour. You’ve been pretending not to notice. Time for coffee and a potty walk.

Coffee With Something Buttery

Start at Bouchon Bakery for coffee and something flaky, buttery or covered in chocolate. Take breakfast to go, find a bench and then follow Washington Street past gardens, sculptures and storefronts.

Your dog will look hopeful beneath the bakery bag. The pastry is yours; pack a proper dog treat so they have something to look forward to as well.

Or Keep It Easy at Velo

Velo Deli & Pizzeria has drip coffee, espresso-based drinks, breakfast sandwiches and dog-friendly outdoor gazebo.

Grab your coffee there, then pick up pastries, donuts or fruit at neighboring Ranch Market Too!, along with dog treats for the other breakfast guest.

Wine Tasting – Dog Edition

Your dog doesn’t care whether the Cabernet came from a mountain vineyard or the valley floor. But outdoor seating, friendly people and the possibility of a treat? Very interested.

Beside the Vines

Bell Wine Cellars is a working winery with its tasting room right beside the vineyard rows, just south of downtown Yountville.

They specialize in single-clone Cabernet Sauvignon, and their guided tastings give you a chance to learn about the wines with a view of the vines… not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

Handwritten Wines focuses on small-production wines and have their own courtyard for you to reserve and for your pup to inspect.

Their side-by-side tastings let you compare wines from different Napa Valley growing regions (AVAs) and give you plenty of material for a friendly debate over which bottle is coming home.

If your dog enjoys meeting a buddy, add Wine Country Connection to the list. Its two resident Cavaliers are part of the welcoming committee. Owned by Master Sommelier Kevin Vogt, the team can help you explore wines from Napa Valley and beyond.

Wine country doesn’t have to mean drinking wine all day everyday (although we don’t judge!), and the designated driver deserves something more interesting than watching everyone else taste.

At No & Co., inside The Yount Room, you can try non-alcoholic wine flights while friends enjoy traditional wine tastings alongside you. Nobody has to split off from the group or settle for another glass of water.

Both The Yount Room and No & Co. welcome dogs, too. So everyone gets to come along, including the one who only drinks from a bowl.

Sunday: The Last Lap

If They’ve Still Got Energy

Yountville Canine Commons is an enclosed off-leash park with shade, benches and water, open 8 a.m. to dusk.

Your dog gets to run free, make friends and burn off that mysterious overnight energy.

And yes, you’ll make the “one last throw” promise… five times minimum. No shame.

If They’re on the Relaxed Side of the Dog Spectrum

The Yountville Art Walk has more than 35 outdoor sculptures around town. Grab a map at the Welcome Center or Community Center, do the audio tour if you want, and wander until someone’s tired.

Your dog will be doing their own independent assessment of the landscaping.

You, on the other hand, can enjoy a glass on your walk with the Sip Yountville Zone.

Extra Treats Along the Way

The Yountville Welcome Center, along most shops, tasting rooms and restaurants, have complimentary dog treats to collect along your stroll.

And if your pup needs a wine-country souvenir of their own, Silver Trident Winery carries a wine-bottle dog toy (and even a full puppy-tasting!). Finally, a bottle they’re allowed to take home.

Also, keep an eye out for dogs wearing blue bandanas… You might have just spotted one of the Hospitality Hounds of Yountville. These local pups and their humans help welcome visitors and neighbors around town, one sidewalk introduction at a time.

HalloWine Walk:

Trick-or-Treating, With Wine

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m., the HalloWine Walk brings adult trick-or-treating to Washington Street, with a planned lineup of 15 to 20 wineries pouring at participating tasting rooms and partner locations.

Grab a ticket, then collect your wristband, cup and map, and enjoy the festivities! There will be wine and seasonal treats for the humans, plus dog treats along the way for your four-legged friend.

The humans need to be 21+, but we won’t be checking your dog’s ID. Costumes are VERY much encouraged. Get your tickets here.

Halloween Block Party:

Full Halloween Town Party, Family-Friendly

The following Saturday, October 31, from 3 to 9 p.m., Washington Street becomes the setting for Yountville’s Halloween Block Party.

There will be live music, food, drinks, décor and special offers all over town. It’s very dog-friendly, so if your pup treats every walk like a networking event, they’ll fit right in.

Children’s activities and live programming will also run from 4:45 to 7:30 p.m., with adult festivities continuing until 9 p.m.

Free event, but food and drinks are on you!

Sip Yountville Zone

Remember – Yountville is the first and only town in the Napa Valley that allows people to drink with open containers along the street and sidewalk areas.

From 10 AM to 10 PM Mon-Sun, guests can purchase alcoholic beverages from participating local businesses and enjoy them outdoors along designated areas of Washington Street, as long as drinks are served in a Town of Yountville-approved cup provided by the business.
