Something to answer the “Where should we go for a drink?” and “Can we just show up somewhere right now?”. The good news is, in a town where you can walk from end to end, there are plenty of places to explore.

One Yountville happy hour has a menu for dogs. Another comes with oysters. There are Wagyu burgers, half bottles, bubbles, tacos, tequila, live music and plenty of patios. And because everything is only a few blocks apart, you can leave the car and wander till you find the happy hour that best fits your mood.

The Any-Day Answer: The Restaurant at North Block

If the clocks ticks between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. and someone asks where to go, The Restaurant at North Block is an easy answer.

Its “Happiest Hour” happens every day of the week(!), with cocktails, wine and bites served at the bar, in the courtyard or along the Washington Street patio.

Walk-ins are welcome, so there is no need to plan the entire afternoon around it. Stop in for a quick glass, share a bite or two, or let happy hour become the unofficial beginning of dinner at this Yountville favorite.

And yes, the happy-hour menu includes $10 cocktails, pizza and plenty of shareable bites. On Thursdays, North Block also brings live music into the courtyard from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The One Where Your Dog Gets a Menu: Lucy at Bardessono

Lucy Restaurant & Bar, located inside Bardessono, has managed to give Monday, Tuesday and Thursday completely unique personalities and vibes.

Mondays belong to the dogs – it’s Yappy Hour.

Bring your pup and claim a spot! With the purchase of two drinks, your dog receives a complimentary item from the “Barkessono” menu. Yes, your dog has its own menu. If the humans can get chips and guac, Fido should receive Barkessono biscuits. This is Yountville, after all.

On Tuesdays, Oyster Happy Hour takes over from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Where fresh oysters, crisp brut, delicate rosé and prestige bubbles await.

Finally, Tacos & Tequila Thursdays bring the spice, the cocktails and the bites. The bar offers a lineup of tequila and mezcal-based drinks, the kitchen provides chicken, beef and shrimp tacos, and your friends bring the latest “Wait, you haven’t heard about…?” story.

When Everyone Votes for Burgers: Burgers & Half Bottles

Yountville does fine dining exceptionally well. It also does crinkle-cut fries, milkshakes and beer poured from a vintage red Volkswagen Brew Bus. Balance is important, after all.

Burgers & Half Bottles is the casual answer to the happy-hour call. The menu includes American Wagyu burgers, lobster rolls, fried chicken sandwiches, fries and Bouchon Bakery ice cream sandwiches and milkshakes. It’s family-friendly, and during the season, Sundays become Game Day – because sometimes the correct pairing for a burger is a cold beer, even in Wine Country.

On Thursdays, you can bring up to two bottles of wine and enjoy complimentary corkage all day. On Fridays, happy hour runs from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., with wines by the glass and pints of beer offered at half price.

No reservations or complicated plans are required. Walk in, order what sounds good and find a seat inside or on the patio.

The Official Start of Friday: The Coop by Hoopes

Friday afternoons were made for a glass of wine and live music – or at least they should have been.

The Coop by Hoopes offers happy hour every Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., with live music from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. throughout the summer.

Happy hour includes $10 wines by the glass and frosé, $15 wine flights and small plates. Come by at 3:00 p.m. for a more relaxed first glass, or arrive closer to 4:00 p.m. when the music begins and the weekend starts feeling official. And if you cannot leave the office before 5:00 p.m., don’t worry – you still have an hour. Use it wisely.

The Coop combines the casual outdoor vibe with Hoopes Vineyard wines, a seasonal menu and an organic farmstand where visitors can pick up fresh produce and farm eggs.

There is good wine, something to snack on and a very real possibility that you will run into someone you know.

When “One Drink” Turns Into Dinner: RO Restaurant & Lounge

We all have that friend who suggests “just one drink,” only for it to become another round (or three) and dinner. RO Restaurant & Lounge was made for this.

The lounge offers happy hour Wednesday through Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., with bubbles, wine, creative cocktails and Asian-inspired bites. The current happy-hour menu includes the Pork Katsu Sando, Bigeye Tuna and Ora King Salmon Chirashi Bowl, $10 cocktails (such as the Sake Ono Sour), and even some Schramsberg bubbles by the glass.

RO is the polished side of happy hour, where chic still feels welcoming and everything centers around very good food and drinks. In other words, you get the full glam for happy-hour prices.

On Fridays, live music begins at 6:30 p.m., giving you exactly 30 minutes after happy hour to admit that you are staying for dinner.
