There are many wonderful things about living in California Wine Country, but one of my favorites things to do in Yountville and Napa Valley is getting to experience our wonderful hotels for midweek staycations! California is opening back up, and we are busy on the weekends, but if you can escape midweek, things are still quiet, and you feel like you have all of Wine Country to yourself.

On a rainy and cold March Wednesday, my boyfriend and I decided to sneak away to Yountville CA and stay the night at Vintage House. Vintage House is located on The Estate Yountville property and is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. Remodeled a few years ago, Vintage House feels both modern and classic. The lobby is open and bright, with plenty of lounge space to enjoy. Outside there are several fire pits with comfy chairs, perfect for one more glass of wine.

After checking in, we head to our room. The grounds of Vintage House include lovely water features and trees that are just starting to show signs of spring. Vintage House is made up of several different two-story buildings, sprawling back away from bustling Washington Street. I love the setup of the hotel rooms, because all room entrances are outside, it is easy to practice social distancing when you are in the public areas.

The rooms are HUGE and so cozy, but my favorite part is the outside porch. Our porch overlooked Washington Street and was complete with a hanging chair and a giant-sized chair. I quickly made myself comfortable in the giant chair and enjoyed a glass of bubbles from Chandon.

The room features a large California king bed, sitting area, and plush couch. There is also a real fireplace which is always lovely on a rainy spring day! We picked up a bottle of Chandon bubbles on our way into town that we decided to enjoy by one of the many fireplaces dotting the property. Although it was chilly, the bubbles and fireplaces kept us warm!

You can’t experience a staycation in Yountville CA and not visit one of our excellent restaurants. Bottega Restaurant is located on The Estate Yountville property and is a quick two-minute walk from Vintage House. They have a large inviting heated patio; it is the perfect place to dine outside, even when the weather is not perfect.

To begin our meal, we each enjoyed a sample of their signature margarita (their recipe includes gin!) and the famous bread with parmesan cheese dip. Next up was Creamy Gioia burrata served with rosemary-scented Tangerines, pine cone syrup “Caviar” and crispy Sunchokes. To say this dish is to “die for” is an understatement. For my main course, I ordered the famous Ravilo. One giant fresh Ravilo that you cut into and oozes with a perfectly cooked egg yolk. The dish is topped with truffled brown butter and sage. Ah.Mazing! My boyfriend opted for the Tagliarini Bolognese al Centro Winter. This dish is wheat pasta with tomato braised pork belly, finished with red wine topped with Calabrian gremolata and Chianti-soaked Pecorino. He is a big connoisseur of Bolognese, and said it was one of his favorites. We washed all of this down with some more bubbles from Chandon.

One of the best things about Bottega, is the staff. They are all so warm and friendly. When we told them we were enjoying a date night away, they delivered something special for us! Instead of just picking a dessert, they brought us three different desserts! I am a big tiramisu fan; the tiramisu might be the best one I have ever had.

There might be nothing better than taking a nice long relaxing bubble bath after a long hearty meal. Back in the room, I drew myself a bath, grabbed my book and a final glass of bubbly for the perfect end to a lovely evening.

Sadly the following day means back to reality but not before breakfast! Breakfast is included with your stay at Vintage House. Served at Ottimo Restaurant, also on The Estate Yountville property,  breakfast is an impressive array of baked goods, cheese, and fruit. There is also the option to order additional items such as avocado toast or eggs. We both enjoyed a hearty breakfast and a delicious cappuccino before heading back to real life.

You have many options when deciding where to stay in Wine Country, but I cannot recommend the Vintage House enough! It is centrally located and has everything you want in a luxury hotel in Yountville CA.
