Hill Family Tasting Salon is an elegant yet relaxed experience located in the heart of Yountville.
About our Family
In 1981, Doug and Darci Hill settled down on an acre of land at the northern edge of Yountville. Their children, Ryan and Carly, grew up playing in the vineyards, tending chickens, and played baseball and basketball. They also helped their neighbors grow organic fruits and vegetables for the local restaurants including Thomas Keller’s world renowned French Laundry restaurant.
Hill Family Estate produced their first wines in 2001, a Merlot and a red blend called Origin. Production ranges between 9,000 to 12,000 cases annually. Having a repertoire of 12 different vineyards to draw from they are able to select only the highest quality fruit for their wines.
Today the Hill Family owns 120 acres of vineyards with a focus on Atlas Peak, Carneros and Oak Knoll. The vineyards are 100% family-farmed, family-owned and family-operated.
Visiting our Tasting Salon
Our salon-styled tasting room offers a comfortable setting amid eclectic décor such as a Fender electric guitar, antique furniture, a surfboard, and baseball bats stained with Hill Harvest Red wine. It’s elegant and quite polished (this is Yountville after all) but still kicked-back, with a relaxed staff who can impress sophisticated foodies as well as rowdy imbibers.
We welcome walk-ins and appointments, and request a prior appointment for groups of 6 or more. On weekends we recommend making an appointment to reserve a table.

Family Style Tasting
Join us in downtown Yountville at our historic tasting room for a family-style seated tasting. Explore an array of wines made from grapes that owner Doug Hill has been farming since the 1970s. Enjoy Napa’s finest hospitality in a comfortable setting, where we’ll change your name to Hill for the day.

Blind Tasting
Do you have what it takes to be a Master Sommelier? Put your palate to the test as you taste four wines concealed in black Riedel glasses. During this educational tasting you will learn the unique characteristics of grape varieties, vineyard appellations and vintages to help you guess what wine is in each glass. Offered daily by advance appointment at 10:30am.

Vineyard Tour
Explore the farming side of wine with an educational walk through The Estate Yountville’s vineyard that we manage in downtown Yountville, just steps away from our tasting room. Following the tour, will be a seated wine tasting accompanied by a cheese and charcuterie board prepared by The Estate Yountville.

Secret Garden Tour
The Secret Garden Tour explores Hill Family Farms, an idyllic oasis hidden in the middle of a residential community, about 5 minutes from the Hill Family tasting room in Yountville. This tour is offered seasonally by appointment from June through September, Monday-Saturday at 10:30am.
