Morning (really early morning)
We know that sleeping in recently has been nice and become the new norm but getting an early start to make the 5:30 a.m. call time for a ride in the sky is worth it! We have excellent balloon outfitters in Yountville offering you safe and knowledgeable flights daily. Discover their offerings and reserve a spot early, they fill up fast! Coffee, tea and pastries are offered before flights and when you touch down you’ll enjoy a leisurely champagne brunch. When you take a flight from Yountville, you’re launching right in the middle of the valley! You’ll be guaranteed sweeping vineyard views, fog rolling off the mountains and on particularly clear days you’ll even get a glimpse of the bay! These views are guranteed to be better than your current views of the front and/or back lawns.
Morning Part Two (a more decent hour)
Perhaps 5:30 a.m. is still a little to early while you get back in the swing of things. How about starting your morning a little more normal of an hour with a jam topped english muffin? If that’s the case, make sure to start your morning at Mini Model, the sweet (littler) sister location of the famous Model Bakery. Their english muffins are so good Oprah gets them flown to her! They have some pretty sweet competition with Bouchon Bakery across the way. Thomas Keller’s famous bakery is stocked full of sweet treats and pastries to start your morning or to purchase for a mid afternoon nosh. Look for the yellow umbrellas and line out the door!
Late Morning
Sipping on a glass of wine might be nice right now on the couch in your PJ’s while facetiming your friends but you are still missing one thing. Visiting some of the local tasting rooms and wineries has the amazing views and knowledgable staff to help you pick the best wine for your taste with the right food to pair it with. Yountville has 17 tasting locations within walking distance as well as a handful of wineries a short drive away. For newcomers we recommend enjoying a mix of famous stops and local favorites. Enjoy our downtown wineries that are easily walkable from almost all of our Yountville lodging properties! Drop by Hope and Grace, located only a few doors down from both Bouchon and Model. Their single varietals shine during a cheese and wine pairing. Book this experience while lounging in their elegant but approachable tasting room. Looking for something a bit more sparkly? Reserve the cocktail 101 tasting at Domaine Chandon, to learn about the history of champagne cocktails and make three of your own.
Lunch Time
Late Afternoon
You’re in wine country, so more wine is certainly in order. If you are at R&D Kitchen, cross the street to Stewart Cellars and enjoy their reserve tasting in their “NOMAD Heritage Library” surrounded by antique books you can peruse and purchase. Their cabernet tastings are not ones to miss full of robust flavors and finishes. If vineyard views are what you are looking for hop in the car and head down Yountville Cross Road for a five minute drive to Cliff Lede Vineyards. Their tastings show off their incredible location in the famous Yountville Appellation. Replete with rock ‘n roll memorabilia and great places to take Instagrams you’ll have plenty to take in at this stop.
Dinner Plans
You’ve been eatting at home every day for over a month and you are ready for someone else to prepare your meal for you but where to start you ask? With more Michelin starred restaurants per square mile than anywhere in the world, there is a menu for every taste! Have a night in France with the delicious tastes of Thomas Kellar’s high-end French bistro, Bouchon. The bread. The oysters. The wine list. You can’t go wrong. For more of a festive taco night, make reservations at La Calenda . With it’s full service bar you can find the right drink to match your favorite dish and get the authentic mexican food adventure.
