I love to travel. Exploring new cities and countries is always exciting.  My favorite airport to fly in and out of the bay area is the Sacramento International Airport (SMF). SMF is quickest, closest, and friendliest airport when traveling in and out of the Napa Valley. It has all the amenities of a big city airport without all the hassel. Easy inexpensive parking, short lines and fast security always make for a pleasant travel day.  When booking your trip to Yountville and the Napa Valley Sacramento International Airport is the best airport to choose. With daily services to and from all major destinations, SMF proves an effortless start to your wine country vacation.

Arriving into SMF is smooth and simple. Renting a car is a short shuttle ride away or get a driver to pick you up from one of many of Napa Valley’s tour companies. Once on your way, enjoy the quick one hour journey into the Napa Valley. No tolls and less traffic, it is the quickest journey from any bay area airport.

When your wine country trip comes to an end, leaving from SMF makes leaving a little less painful. Friendly ticketing agents make sure that check in is easy and security screenings are the quickest around, allowing for a stress free start to your home.

Insider Tip: If you are in Terminal B make sure and look out for Lawrence Argents “Leap”, a red rabbit sculpture who seems to be leaping into the airport. “Leap” might look familiar since it has a sister sculpture in Napa Valley at Hall Winery.

A variety of food options are sure to please even the pickiest traveler. My boyfriend always loves to stop at Squeeze Burger, known for their burgers with cheese skirts. I prefer locally owned Dos Coyotes for some last minute mexican food or Vino Volo for one last taste of Napa Valley wine. Make sure and leave extra room in your carry on so you can shop at one of SMF’s unique stores. In Terminal A check out Details, featuring Calvin Kline products such as scarfs, leather goods and scents. When in Terminal B stop by locally owned Visions of Eden to pick up any last minute gifts you need.

SMF is also committed to sustainability. Starting in 2015, SMF started to purchase recycled paint in order to help conserve water (13 gallons of water is saved for every gallon of paint). More than 300 tons of food waste has been turned into renewable natural gas. Terminal B is landscaped with drought resistant plants and was awarded Silver in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

When traveling to Yountville and the Napa Valley for business or pleasure make sure to choose SMF-the bay areas closest, fastest and friendliest airport!
