Do yourself a favor – book your next winery visit at a classic Napa Valley property. When visiting Chandon you put yourself in the hands of the true masters of hospitality. There’s a trend afoot in wine country. Some of the best-known names in wine are about to blow you away with their take on wine service.
A Dreamy Renovation Shines this Summer
Chandon has long welcomed visitors to the Napa Valley with graciousness, but a recent renovation has put hospitality, connection, and sustainability together into a dreamy mix that wraps its arms around you like one big Napa Valley hug. Celebrating 50 years since its founding, Chandon underwent a three-year renovation that rethought just how to interact more fully with the landscape while retaining many of the classic Chandon facades, with a few key updates. The result is a dance between the land and architecture that just feels like it has always been there.
A Study in Contrasts
You’ll hear the winery’s hosts describe the classic Chandon wine style as comprising both finesse and strength. These are not the only contrasts you’ll discover at the new Chandon experiences. On a recent visit, I felt the reimagined architecture, paths, and landscaping imparted a sense of both expansiveness and intimacy. The sustainable landscaping makes full use of the property’s aspect and position atop a hill with collections of simple water-wise grasses dancing below ancient oaks that catch the light just so.
Utilizing more of the property, the team created a seemingly infinite number of discreate enclaves where they can showcase their signature hospitality. Whether you’re a party of one (why not, take yourself on a date) or many (celebrate with 100 of your closest), the Chandon team has developed experiences that connect guests with each other and the wines that represent the Chandon estate vineyards – often alongside seasonal, local foods.
A Summer Pairing for All
Pairing local foods with Chandon wines is part of the winery’s founding principles. Today, Thursdays-Sundays, guests may reserve a number of in-depth and luxurious pairing experiences in the winery’s Epicurean Center and neighboring garden. But it is a simple Sparkling Lunch Bites for an approachable $35 per person that exemplifies Chandon’s welcoming ethos. The Sparkling Lunch Bites experience pairs either a glass of Reserve Pinot Noir Rosé with two unctuous beef sliders or a glass of Reserve Blanc de Blanc with a decadent crab roll. Both pairings were created by the winery’s talented culinary team to showcase these two favorite sparkling wines from the winery’s portfolio. These successful pairings prove that food and sparkling wines were made for each other and can be enjoyed throughout the meal. The Sparkling Lunch Bites may be reserved on Thursdays or may be ordered a la carte Fridays through Sundays.
