Saintsbury

1500 Los Carneros Avenue. Napa, CA 94559

FAMILY OWNED CARNEROS WINERY

Family-owned and operated since 1981, Saintsbury was established with a curious spirit and is recognized as an early producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Northern California. Based in the Napa Valley, Saintsbury thoughtfully pursues exceptional vineyards, varieties, and farmers throughout California. A thoughtful, open-minded approach in the cellar balances decades of practice with a playful sense of discovery. After 40 years, our wines have become the centerpiece of our extended family of growers, collaborators, and enthusiasts.  Just off Highway 121, Saintsbury is a hidden gem within the Napa-Carneros region. Dependent on the weather, your tasting will either take place in our English-style gardens adjacent to our Home Vineyard or on the east side of the cellar overlooking the vineyards.

Our Founders

Saintsbury Winery was founded by Richard Ward and David Graves in 1981. Incidentally they both met during their graduate studies in Enology at UC Davis while taking a brewing class together and is where they made their first non commercial wine (a Santa Barbara grown barrel fermented Riesling).

Fate sometimes works its magic – David had a biology degree from UC Santa Cruz and Richard had an engineering degree and both were pursuing careers in the wine industry.
